Help!

See? I knew you could do this! Chickens are quite addictive. Give them a clean, dry, predator-resistant place to live with decent, non-moldy feed and clean water and they'll reward you with eggs. Many chickens are molting now so they may be slow with the egg production anyway and if they haven't been eating well, that will also slow things up. Good luck!

Well, my initial problem is solved. The previous owners picked up their chickens - all 22 of them. Now I'm left with an empty horse corral much of it covered with tar paper, old fencing and boards that was used for the chicken enclosure - I can't call it a coop. I'm going to call someone with a Bobcat to tear it all down and haul it away and then build a real coop using the ideas from this forum to house perhaps a half dozen chickens. I'll make it large enough to house more if I ever feel the need.

Well, sounds like you do need to start fresh and build a really, good sturdy coop. Wish they'd left a few, but at least you can do it up right, eh? Best wishes with all your chicken plans!

Firstly

Well now youll have the awsome experience of raising chicks (if you decide to go that way, some farm stores sell 2-3 day olds year round) Keeping chickens is a wonderful thing, there very easy to keep (I only have six though) and the eggs are so much better for you and better tasteing than shop bought. If its what you decide to do, have fun planning, building a coop then get your girls and see what were all so crazy about. This is a wonderful forum, chocked full of advise. Enjoy!

i think you should keep them you are probabley treating them better then what they were before and if they dont have things like nest box's they cant be at all bothered about them
