so can I put my 5 6 week olds with the big girls with a heat lamp for the night

Btw I have had chickens for five years just never stated with day olds and there is one silkie a salmon favoral a ancona and two silver spangled hamburgs

At 6 weeks, aren't they fully feathered by now? They don't need a lamp if they have all their feathers.

I wouldn't suggest combing your flocks until the the young ones are close to full size. I would be afraid that the older hens would injure the young ones when asserting their dominance.

At any rate, I wouldn't ever just toss any new chickens into a flock of established hens. You have to let them get used to each other first. I would partition the coop in half with fencing and keep the young ones next to the adults for a while.
