9 day old Cornish X. One is WAY smaller than the rest. Maye almost half the size. It seems to not walk well. Feet look fine and legs are not sprawled. He/she walks to the feed and eats but stumbles as if balance is off. It drinks water as well if I put it at the waterer. It's just clearly small and weak and appears to struggle to move around. Any ideas?

I did separate the small bird from the quarter barn stall the others are in, to her own small brooder. I did this because she was getting trampled on really badly and is very wobbly on her feet so I placed food and water right next to her so hopefully she can eat and drink an sleep for now. I'm just worried about my heat lamp because I just can't ind a right height for my lamps. I'm moving the height 3-4 times a day with the other 23 chickens. Thanks for any help.

i have an EE chick that is like that now, much smaller than the others and very wobbly and breathing kinda funny. i have her in her own box inside the brooder with her own food/water bc she was getting pick on all the time and has lost so many feathers. she is not looking great right now, i have no idea how else to help her though. i hope both our chicks recover with some time alone! :(

I would say the best you can do is just keep an eye on her and keep her separated sometimes chicks who are born weaker and smaller do grow to be healthy chickens, its not practical to do this if your farming on a large scale obviously, but if you just have a small setup and have the time, give her a chance :)

Chick finally died. I have lost 3 Cornish X out of 26 in 9 days. The rest are getting huge and really running an playing. Is 12% loss on Cornish X reasonable?

i lost mine too - she was one of nine and the others seem to be doing alright. I am not sure what "normal" loss is, my first group we didn't lose any
