I am a first time duck owner and I don't know much about them but my husband does but he is also gone a lot for his job. What can I do to get them from throwing water all over? I try to use a bigger water but they waste it all in about 3 hrs. And what and when can I start feeding them things of then feed??

Here is an excellent link to alot of questions you may have.. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/750869/raising-and-caring-for-ducklings#post_10611711 Ducks are just palin messy, they love to play in their water not much you can do about it. I'll get you the link for the duck waterer too, easy to make. and as for feeding them other things other than their feed make sure they have access to chick grit. it's the only way they can grind up anything other than their starter feed.

You have been given some great links! Unfortunately, it is very difficult to keep them clean. I use a form of the container for watering my goslings and ducklings. I modified it, and use tupperware containers with holes cut in the cover. It has worked wonders for my girls. I would say that their brooder is 80% more dry. One thing I also did was put a paper plate under the water to avoid it splashing onto the bedding.

Good luck with the little ones!

Thank you so much for the help. I have always just had chickens so the duck experience is all new to me.
