Is this your first time with chickens? I'm just going to assume it is. The short answer, you can't. Chickens scratch and peck to get bugs, dirt, plant matter. It doesn't matter if it's their feed or dirt, they are going to do it. Hence the name of cracked corn "chicken scratch". On the bright side, the chickens should eat up most of what they dig out.

Get a hanging feeder, I hang mine to about equal with their back height and I zero issues with the chicks getting in it and wasting feed.

There's your answer right there.

If you can't hang the feeder then set it up on blocks to about the height of their backs or make a wire cover to go over it that allows them to get their heads in to eat, but not so big they can get in and scratch it out.
