Hi....I am in over my head...help!!!! I have a small flock (10 ) of asst. bantams and wanted to add some silkie and cochen chicks so I purchased 12. The chicks have been in my basement for 8 weeks and are more than ready to go outside. The problem is one of my hens went missing and I thought she was long gone but was hiding in the barn and hatched out 10 chicks. Hen and chicks are now in the area of the coops run I had seperated for the 8 week old chicks. We made a small shelter for them and sectioned off the run so they could get to know everyone through the fence but I have put the hen and babies in there. Can I put the hen in the coop with the rest of the flock? Could I put the 8 week olds in with the hen and her chicks? I really need to get the birds out of my house!

Thanks in advance for any input :)

I don't think the hen would welcome chicks older than hers so that could be a bad thing.

That is what I was afraid of....hopefully she will take them into the coop soon so the others can have that space. Thanks

You should be able to integrate the broody and chicks with the rest of the flock without any problems. Just keep an eye on them if the chicks are very small still.

Thanks guys...I hope to move them into the coop the first of the week and then move the others outside and out of my house!
