My husband and I are learning as we go because we are new to the chicken world and we have just put our 5 week old girls in our coop. The question is how high should the roosting bar be for 5 week old chicks? I have seen alot of posts as to how high when they are older but it just seems so high for these little girls who don't fly yet. Thanks in advance

Mine were 7 weeks when I put them in their coop. I installed my roosting bars at about 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 feet off the floor. I knew they would be too high, but I did not want to have to keep moving them as they got older. So, I put a 6 inch wide board with cleats every 6" from the floor to the lower roost. They had no problem walking up the board to roost and hoping up to the higher one from there. Now, some of them can even fly up to the lower one.
