So my broody hen was sitting on seven eggs. Four of them have hatched. The fourth chick to have hatched must have hatched in the past couple of hours but I was not home. My broody hen decided to stop being broody so it took all of its chicks out of the coop, but the fourth chicks is much to small and young to be walking around just yet. I put it in a makeshift brooder because his momma kept on accidently stepping on him and she wouldn't lay on him to give him the warmth that he needed. He is now asleep in the brooder, but I do not have a thermometer. I am going out to buy one soon, but there were none at Riteaid, all they had was the kind you stick in your mouth, so I will just go to different stores later I guess to find one. I positioned the heat lamp so that it isn't directly on him because when it was directly on him he wouldn't stop chirping so I think it was too hot but I am not sure... For all I know it could be too cold right now. He is fast asleep as of now and I also put the three leftover eggs in there with him. One of them is pipping right now so I put it in the brooder too for warmth. I do have an incubator but it is full of eggs right now-- no space. Please help me! What can I do to make sure that both the chick and the baby make it?? Please help!!
