Can anyone tell me what pecking of beaks mean I have 3 ducks( sex yet still unknown ) and two out of the 3 are always pecking at each others beaks , is this courtship behaviour they are 8-9 weeks old now

How are they housed right now? My first thought is that they may be overcrowded or boredom is setting in for them - so explaining where they live and how much room they have to move around may rule that out.

They sleep in house 6x4x4 so plenty of room they have a pen with a swimming pool just waiting till workman finisges the big run, the i let then out free roaming when im there, thing is they have done this since they were a few weeks old

Oh.. well yes that rules out boredom and overcrowding then- Some of mine will do it occasionally - but if you are asking the question here- it sounds like it is a very regular thing. Its not courtship behaviour either - so may just be a funny little quirk between the two of them while they work out the pecking order as they grow up.

Thanks anyway it's puzzling its just the same pair doing it , maybe pecking order thing , they seem to do it more in the pool
