P.S.Is Banty a breed or is that like short for Bantam?

Yeah, she won't put any weight on it and it doesn't seem to hurt her and I can't see sign of injury. So I thought it might be do to the way she hatched or handled or maybe housed.I tried bandaging with my first chick that died and it only made it worse.
She came from our local Co-op and they called her Banty.....So what breed does that mean or is she like a mixed or like hatcheries choice?

Did she have bumble foot? My freind had a chick like that and even once its foot was heeled it wouldnt walk. They tried to give it physical therapy and move its leg for it in a walking motion to try to get it to use its leg again.I think it helped but the chick did still die. Try that but know the chick may just be unhealthy. About the breed, bantams come in most breeds and they are just smaller so your chick could be any breed really. I cant tell what it might be but you should be able to figure out when she gets older. Hope this helps.

Ok,I tried that and now she is walking normally, but it was very painful for her when I popped it back in place.I tried to make a cast but the straw was to big and the straw is very small. For now she is walking so I'm thankful.I would also like thank everyone who posted but especially JWEBB.

but really you should not let her walk for a day - put her in a coffee cup with a washcloth nest just to immobilize her so she wont put weight on it.. and offer food and water or something periodically.. you can tape soda bottle lids to the edge of the coffe cup for food and water.... so it wont slip out again.. it must rest a day or so like the instruction says I think. I'm glad that helped her ! goodluck! you can also start the baby on some vitamin water- polyvisol baby vitamin with no iron or reg baby chick vitamin for water.
I read they can have a tiny piece of baby aspirin in water and willtake the inflammation down not tylenol or anything just baby aspirin. I'm not sure of doseage but you can google and find it or search here in the forum someone must know.

Ok,I'll try but she is very active and I can already tell she is a diva, lol.I have a silkie hen that was the same way when she was little and sometimes she makes me wonder who's really the pet.
