Explain crusty? Does she have a discharge from nostrils, any sneezing any discharge from eyes? Any discoloration of comb(dark tips)? Any facial swelling?

Or could it be food impacted in nostrils(a couple of my roosters occasionally have food stuck in nostrils, from sticking their heads in fermented feed while eating)if yes gently wipe out nostrils with a moistened q tip.

Keep her quarantined from other birds,VERY IMPORTANT b/c it could also be something very serious and contagious.

Update with more information.

I have her in a cage by her self. Like 3 feet from my coop. Do i need to move her further away... i dont think she has been sneezing. It looks like crusty boogers. It is hard to describe. I just scraped it off, there was a tiny piEce of straw stuck to it. That was yesterday. To day noon time i checked on her again it was crusty again and a small piece of straw was stuck to the crusty stuff again!... im not sure if that helps any. Tomorrow i will try to take a pic before work

A photo would help.

I would move her far from your coop-- a quarantined bird should not share the same airspace or be in close proximity to your other chickens or have any chance of cross-contamination. Though the damage may already be done, I'd move her ASAP.

X2. This bird may have some disease and should not have been anywhere near your existing birds, if she has been next to them they can already have been exposed to whatever this is she has. This stuff spreads so easily. Personally I'd return this bird to wherever you got her if at all possible. Once you bring home some nasty disease it's there to stay and to deal with.

VetRx will not cure anything. It may help with breathing in congested birds, it's similar to a human using mentholatum type products for a cold. If she has some respiratory disease antibiotic's can help prevent complications but won't cure the disease. Even after she recovers she will remain a carrier and can infect the rest of your flock.

Is she safe to handle?

The Vetrx won't do much to help her; it depends on what is wrong.
The chances are she is safe to handle, for you, yes. Just follow good hygiene and wash well afterward. I would also recommend changing clothing before visiting your normal flock of chickens until you know what is wrong.
