Ok all you chicken peeps I need your help
the lady I bought my doms from just hatched 8 baby precious silkies!!! Im trying to stay strong and crack to chicken math! But oh boy I want one.
anyone have doms and silkies that have been able to live together? Am I crazy? If I do it I cant just buy oneof cocourse I'll need two right?? Oh how does this happen! Please give me your oh mighty advise!!

Okay, I think you are on the wrong forum if you don't want to get support to not crack and give into to Chicken math!

That being said, you need at least 3 of the silkies - what if something (God forbid) happens to one, then the other will be all alone.

But I like nice round numbers so I think you need to go ahead and get 4 ... and thus begins Chicken Math. Power in numbers right?

I don't know how well they will get along, but I think I have seen people have both. How old are the Dominiques? That might help others give you an idea.

If it were me, and you really want a silkie, you should try to get two older silkie hens/pullets (or 3/4), quarantine them for 3 weeks minimum (6-12 better) then try to integrate the birds where they can see each other but not get to eachother this will help ensure the gentle silkies are top of the pecking order and you'll have less chance of injury to the silkies.
[Chicken math is a lot of numbers, but if you do it, it needs to be well thought out and planned for, not spur of the moment because chicks are available...sometimes this behavior us okay (I've even done it before, but it was just one chick...anyway..) you can make some pretty big mistakes by rushing things when dealing with mixing birds and there can be very tragic, detrimental consequences.]
