My Chicken Got Bitten Yesterday Idk From What and It Ripped its skin and I wanna know is it still healthy when it grows to lay eggs and what kind of animal might've attacked it

have you got pictures? it could have been any number of animals that have attacked it. if it survives and is healthy then yes it should grow on to lay eggs like other chickens. you will need to keep the wound clean and dry, keep her away from the others ( so that they don't peck at her) and keep her on good quality feed with extra protein . how deep is the wound?

if its deep, then a visit to the vet is in order they will likely give an anti rabies shot, clean the wound, prescribe antiobiotics ( she will need those) and possibly stitch the wound.

Welcome to BYC!!

Sorry about your bird. How deep is the wound? Can you post a pic? If it is not a horrible wound, you can separate the bird from the flock. If the bird is very stressed and traumatized, you might keep the bird under heat for a couple days to prevent shock. (shock makes them very cold) Apply some cream type antibacterial ointment to the wound daily. Don't let crud get into it. If it is a deep puncture wound, you should probably get her started on antibiotics like Amoxicillin or Sulfadimethoxine. If you can give penicillin injections, that would be the best thing.

You should probably post this in the emergency section for more help with your bird..

I hope your bird is going to be ok.

It is usually mammals that attack birds. Most things do not transfer mammal to bird. So if the chicken survives it's eggs and meat will be fine.

chickens can't get rabies
