Does anyone know what breed these chicks are?

My first thought is they're mixed breed birds, the one to the left being a cockerel. Where did they come from? A hatchery, or backyard breeder?

That was my guess...they were eggs hatched as a kindergarden project. Couple has chickens of various types I guess and they donated eggs for each class.

So, if you tracked down what breeds of birds they had, roosters and hens, we may be able to puzzle out what breeds went into each chick (always assuming the parent birds are themselves not mixed

). But, it's not really going to matter, they all look to be mixed of heavy/dual purpose birds. Means the cockerels will be big enough to eat, the hens should be good layers of brown eggs, everyone should be fairly docile, and a hen going broody might or might not happen.

They're adorable chicks! Enjoy them.

Thanks. I was wondering what type egg layers they may turn out to be.
