Help!!

Hello all, experiencing my first broody bantam. I have been watching her past couple days and is on the eggs at every time of the day. Pretty sure she has gone broody...However, I set up a nice little enclosed area in my garage with food, water, a nesting box and her eggs. I put her in her little pen with the eggs and she will not lay on them.....but she was laying on them just fine in the coop for the last 3 days. could it be she is just trying to figure out her surroundings and will eventually catch on and lay on them?? I put her in her nesting box with the eggs and she just seems to stand over them, staring at me....ugh, so frustrating!! any advice?

Hi, welcome to the flock!

did you put her pen on the floor? The concrete is probably colder than the underside of her coop nest box. Also, she may not feel as safe bc she is alone now. It would be better to set her up inside the coop. MHO, hope it helps.

She is on the ground but she is in a dog kennel with straw, a tray under the straw and a thick piece of plywood under that. I made it nice and cozy

there is no room in the coop for me to rig up a small little area for her I did just check on her and she has finally laid down on them.

hoping it will last. Thanks for your response!! I will make sure to put some extra straw in there and continue to monitor. Do you think a heat lamp is necessary? They have gone all winter without it, even with the temps below zero. (Their coop is nice and insulated) but with her setting on eggs I'm not too sure if she needs that extra warmth.

If your garage is cold then probably.
