They'll be making noise for a long time before they hatch, over 24 hours isn't uncommon. If you go in too early, the yolk and blood vessels will not have had time to absorb, and you will dramatically decrease the chicks chances of survival. Be patient.

Thx so much it's been doing this dice about 4:45pm and its 4:07 am so how much longer would you say it has

If it were a chicken egg, I would expect it to break through the shell within the next 12-24 hours, and hatch completely within the next 24 hours from that, but I would assume a goose egg would behave similarly. Don't worry, a strong chick will be completely fine on it's own. And personally I'd say that if it doesn't hatch on it's own, I would not want it as a part of my flock. If you keep breeding chicks that require assistance, they will only pass on the trait and you will have more trouble in future generations.

If you haven't slept yet, go to sleep, and if you have, have a cup of coffee and read the paper or something. Nature will take care of things.

Thank goodness I've been up since 8:34 I'm so excited for its new arrival

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

X2 They can peep inside the egg long before hatching. Once they externally pip, (poke a hole through the egg to breath) they can sit like this for well over 24 hours. Don't panic and think you need to break them out. LOL They are busy detaching from the inside of the eggshell and absorbing the last of the egg yolk. So just let them do their thing and he will hatch out when he is ready!

Good luck and keep us posted! We love pics!! :-)

So my brother dropped one and it cracked what can I do to make sure it survives
(It is still tapping the shell and chirping
