i have just moved my eight chicks out to our new coop, here in south TX. The chicks are seven weeks old. Tonight I went to get them
Into the coop and discovered to coop inside and out was crawling with cut ants. They are after the chicken feed. The ants aren't interested in meat but they will bite (a bite usually excises flesh) if they feel threatened. I don't know what to do! I'm afraid I'll find dead bloody chicks in the morning or injured chicks. I will get some DE as soon as I can but I'm not sure that's going to help much. These darn cut ants are relentless!!! I have been battling them for years now. They strip all of my plants. Nothing have tried put I now has slowed them down. Any suggestions welcome!! I am DESPERATE.

I would start by moving the food outside of the coop. Also if it was me I would move the chickens to the garage for a day or so until you can eliminate the ants.
