I set some serama and silkie eggs two weeks ago. I checked them at 7 days and the serama eggs looked like they were almost developed. I thought maybe they were rotten, but let them go a little longer to see what would happen. I am dry incubating them. I got an automatic turner and let them be. My disabled Daughter ended up in the ICU on Saturday. Didn't think anything of the chicks until my older Daughter told me tonight that there was a tiny serama chick in there! It was dry too! One out of 21 eggs. It is 6 days early. Well so I thought. I got the message at work after being at the hospital for days. The kids can't find the heat lamp. Hubby is at the hospital with my Daughter. I decided to keep it in the bator until tomorrow. I will just have to go home and take care of it instead of going to the hospital. Then I realized I had a broody silkie last week. Her eggs are not fertilized as far as I know. Should I have my Daughter put the chick under her tonight? My Daughter took the chick out and now it screams when she puts it back. I feel awful! Please help!!!!

Also, should I add humidity to the bator now and put it in lockdown? It's too early. Not sure my silkie is still broody. Asked my daughter to bring her to the deck and put her in a dog kennel (a huge wire one) and watch her with the chick. Is that the right thing to do?
