This Wednesday I had blood drawn for a physical and had a wad of gauze taped onto the bend of my elbow. Later in the day I was crouching down in the run breaking up broccoli stalks for the girls, as they are spoiled and insist on being hand-fed rather than breaking up treats and eating them off the ground. The girls were gathered very close to me, and I was trying to keep an eye on everyone's beaks, because we all know how ferocious velociraptors are at feeding time. All of a sudden I felt the tape being ripped off my arm. Ouch! Darla, my motherly BSL, was simply "helping" to remove my tape. She's always walking up to the other girls and picking food off their faces, and preening their feathers for them.

Do any of you have a helpful mother hen in your flocks?

that is very helpful
