It's good to be here

Since you are here, I will just ask you instead of starting a new thread about this question - Is 12 x 16 (16 longways) inch nest box big enough for a broody to sit on 8 eggs? It is the one I built into my broody cage area (which is attached to the side of my main coop), and the cage itself is 3 x 5 foot.

Elmo,

You are right about ventilation. It is very important. Our coops have a front door that has removable plex
glass. They also have a window, Mesh flooring under the roost ,and a vented ridge cap. I know its
hard to see in the pics but here are some examples.

The problem I see with most of that is that other than the ridge cap, it's too low to be left open during the winter. The other thing I noticed is that the door is covered with chicken wire. That's not predator secure.

chicks in the sun,

I think your chicken will be happy with that size. Because most standard sizes
are 12 x 12

Great - thank you! Now I just have to get her to stay in that one once the eggs are under her on Saturday. Right now she just goes back to the original, shared ones, so I will have to block her in.
