Hello everyone,

I have got 8 call duck eggs in an incubator and all eight are fertile. The last time I hatched calls i bought 6 eggs, 3 where fertile and 2 hatched.

Ive been doing some reading up on hatch rates etc and from what ive read it is mainly to do with the the ducks air sac.

Someone advised me to use something like a pin to create a small opening so they dont suffocate

Is this advisable and how long should i give them before i start to do it. I dont want to mess up the humidity you see

Any advice would be much appreciated

Morning.

There are several experienced hatchers who check in at the Thread Formerly Known as Hatch Day is Today. Perhaps they can help.

I am 99% useless in regards to hatching. The few things I know I learned from our hatchers here.

Look up the thread: Intervention, helping your chicks hatch. I'm planning on using it as I am incubating some call eggs also.
