Here is my latest batch of my Maran eggs.

I found that using multiple lights, torches etc, and the darker the room the more you see.

I've managed to see embryo at day 7, feet and beaks, movement etc with equally dark eggs. Using 2 strong led light sources, shone directly into the egg, in a pitch black room. If you can't get your room to be dark enough, you can create a room around the egg using opaque card, and cutting a small window for you to see.
 
@BirdsBeesTrees what flash light did you use? I have some 12 day old penedesnca eggs that I'm struggling to view with my small led light.
