I was weeding my fruit trees and finding lots of grubs, so my hens were happy :) Even my 11-yr-old Gracey was helping. It was a lot of work for the poor girl. Chickens are smarter than folks think though, on the way home she just hopped up on the wheelbarrow and rode all the way back to the coop

Gracey is an Easter Egger and one of my first 6 chickens. They all had such beautiful and different color patterns, but all laid blue/green eggs. I will always have them in the flock. In the past 11 years of chicken raising they are one of my favorite breeds. Her sister Granny looked much like her feather pattern, but all in gray...and then their was Goldie....guess what color she was...Gladys, Gertrude, Glenda...they were my good girls :)

Smart hen! Mine follow me like I'm the Pied Piper whenever I'm working in the ground. They know there is good eating to be had when the shovel comes out!
