Can you separate her and check to see if she has a prolapsed vent, or if it is just injured? Place her on your lap and use a towel or rag to help stop the bleeding. Then take a picture. A prolapse is when the inside comes out while straining to lay and egg or to poop, and it gets stuck. Offer some electrolytes or sugar water for her to drink, up to her beak.

The red tissue may attract pecking. Vent pecking is another issue, and can cause an injury. Do you have any aggressive chickens or a rooster who would do this? Is there any over crowding? What do you feed them?

Is her vent opening open or larger than normal? Has she been targeted for bullying? Once the bleeding stops, I would rinse her off and take another picture. Then spray with a wound spray or use some plain antibiotic ointment on it.

No I don’t have any aggressive chickens but recently I had another chicken die and when I picked her up to inspect her she had a huge wide open vent idk if this chicken might have the same problem

Yes I think her vent is a bit bigger than usual I will get he cleaned and separated and will update you when I can get a good picture

Pecking isn’t limited to “aggressive” chickens. Any chicken will find a bleeding flock mate easy to peck at. It’s instinct. So definitely separate any injured bird regardless of what caused the injury

Vent pecking is very dangerous and can lead to cannibalism in chickens. I would try to find out who might be doing this, and think about using some pinless peepers on that one. Some chickens will feather pick or vent peck due to not enough protein in the diet, too little room, boredom from not getting outside to free range, or too much light in the coop. Having things to explore or climb on may help. If you feed a balanced chicken feed, adding scratch or too many scraps can dilute the amount of protein they get. You can feed 16% protein in a layer feed, or up to 20% in an all flock or starter feed with some crushed oyster shell in a separate container for extra calcium.
