I had an egg that was due to hatch today. Originally I thought it was due to hatch tomorrow but my scatterbrained self forgot that there were 31 days last month. But anyways, I candled it yesterday one last time (thinking that it was still on day 19) and found that it had internally pipped and was chirping. I went out this morning to check for an external pip and could no longer hear it or feel tapping. I tried tapping on the egg and chirping to it with no reply. I candled it and saw no movement so I decided to go ahead and make a small hole in the air cell. Again, saw no movement. I did however see this when candling it. Does it look like the chick hit a blood vessel while pipping? I've placed the egg back in the nest just in case I'm wrong, hoping and praying for sign of life later.
