I'm currently using medium pine shavings in the coop and I've been contemplating switching to hemp bedding. My question is... does anyone else use hemp but doesn't follow deep litter method? It seems that most people that use hemp are doing deep litter. I don't want to do deep litter...

As in, you want to remove poop from it regularly?

I use hemp under my roosts and sift it clean daily:

I use pine shavings for my coop. Cedar shavings are not ok for they have oils in it that can be toxic. I looked up hemp and it has many uses but then again it comes down to pricing, health for chickens, and preference. So that is what I have to share. I hope is helps! Steve hopes so too!

I have used it in the past and loved it! I also didn’t do the deep litter method, and would use a cat litter scoop to sift the poop from the hemp bedding under their roost. It worked awesome, and didn’t need replaced like pine bedding does because of how it would sift. I really loved it, and might go back to it someday- I ran out and started buying pine bedding because it’s cheap and readily available vs having to order it…but I liked the hemp the best.
