Hemp bedding suitable for chicks?

Hi, I have seven 5 week old chicks (orpingtons and wyandotte), I have set up a larger enclosure for them (still indoors) with hemp bedding. They have been on old towels so far as I am worried about them ingesting bedding, so have chickened out from giving them 'loose' bedding. Is hemp safe for them in case they do eat it? I am hoping that they are old enough to know the difference between food and bedding, although the hemp is very fine. It is aubichick.

I would make sure they have some grit in there systems and available before so if they do eat some they wont get impacted and able to digest it.

it's fine. they are more than half grown now
