Hello chicken experts, I have a serama hen who can’t open her eye all the way because of a scab over her eye, I just got back after a week away and I feel bad. How can I help her?

I also have a really weak serama, she has been like this for a while. I’ve given her electrolytes and Ivomec a while ago but it didn’t make a difference. Please give suggestions

The top picture looks like the chicken was running into fencing, perhaps trying to get away. I would, rinse her eye with saline or eye wash, and apply either Terramycin eye ointment or plain Neosporin twice a day. Is eh having problems seeing food and water? Try offering her dry feed and some feed with water added, plus a little egg or whatever she likes to tempt her.

Do you know what happened? Were they cared for by family or friend while you were gone? Was their routine changed, ie— maybe didn’t get outside?

Can you try hand feeding the second one, and offering fluids often? How are her poops? Are they warm enough? Could she be hurt?

Thanks for your advice. The first one is eating and drinking since her other eye had no problems. I don’t know what happened, but I recently moved them to a new area so maybe stress is causing the others to pick at her? I don’t know. I separated her from the flock since she was avoiding the others and I will start the ointment tomorrow. It is really cold right now where I live so she’s under a heat lamp.

The second one has solid poops most of the time

I wrote the last post last night and forgot to post it so that one is old. But anyways it is a day later and her eye is open, but under the scabs is a sort of puffiness (similar to another hen that I made a different thread for). I’m very worried that’s it’s part of bigger disease. Any advice?
