Our brahma "hen," 6 months old, went broody three weeks ago. We have had dry, warm days, with chilly nights for a month or so, so I gave no thought to the waterproofness of her chosen spot.

Last night, unbeknownst to me, at first, the chicks began to hatch. It also began a miserable, cold, windy rain. When I went to check on mom, she was sitting in a half inch of icy water, with three dead hatchlings. Her other 13 eggs were cool, wet, but not cold, and no pips.

We got her out, under protest, and I put a big, fluffy, absorbent towel beneath the eggs. We put her back. When we left her, at about 11:30, she was tapping the eggs into a circle, getting ready to sit on them. That was about 11:30 PM.

This morning, when I got to checking on her, she was gone. The eggs were all icy cold. That was about 9:30 AM.

i put all of the eggs in the incubator. 8:00 PM, and no pips. No peeps. Nothing. Do you suppose there could be any chance?

Thank yoi!

Can you candle them? I'm sorry, they may be too far gone. Candling will give you an idea though
