So, I have a hen, she has had all of her back and tail feathers pulled off. But, I catch her on top of other hens, mounting them. I assume she is low on the pecking order, cuz she looks so bad. She must be being picked on. I saw her mounting one of my other hens, pulled her off, and she had a round ball of something hanging out of her vent. I thought it was a prolapse, but it went back in. She has never ever crowed, I wouldn't be able to tell if she had saddle feathers cuz she has no feathers on her back or tail. She is my favorite hen. Very needy, follows me in the yard. Could she be a he? I'm really confused what was coming out of her vent. Help

No, I will have to get one tomorrow, they are sleeping now. You won't be able to tell tho. She has no back feathers, and only two tail feathers.

Here is a pic

Obviously I have a feather picker. That's not my question. My question was if I have a female chicken, why is she mounting other hens, and she had something protruding out of her vent when she was doing it. I know she is a hen, cuz I saw her lay an egg yesterday.

If you are asking what is protruding from her vent, I don't know what that would be.

However, it is not a penis, even roosters don't have a penis. (I couldn't think of a way to put this delicately.)

Have u had an egg from her yet? She looks roo - ish to me, but I do have a red sex link who mount 2 of my lower pecking order pullet. She's definitely a female since I've seen her lay eggs. Hmmmm. Just not sure if your chicken's gender.
