Hen acting strange after laying soft egg

I found this soft shelled egg in the coop this morning, and this hen acting strange. I’m not 100% sure it was her who laid it, but it seems like she is. It was laid on the poop shelf while she was roosting, which has only happened when I got the first egg ever laid, which was also a soft shelled egg.

Do I need to give her a calcium pill?
She was acting like this once before and I gave her some yogurt and a cut up calcium pill while roosting and she was fine the next morning. I’m not sure if it’s busted because of it falling down on the roosting bar, if it busted inside her, or if someone pecked at it.

They are on all flock pellets and always have oyster shells available. 7 months old and have been laying for 2 months.

Any advice is appreciated!

You can also just pop the calcium +D3 pill directly into her beak, she can swallow it though it looks big. I find it easiest to do at night when they are on the roost. The D3 helps them absorb the calcium, sometimes it makes all the difference. Give it every day for about 5 days, should help.

On occasion, even in a perfect feed/supplement situation such as yours, I have gotten a shell-less egg from a seasoned hen. I just look at them and shrug.

I'd just watch for it to happen again or consider it a fluke. If she's acting funky, then to be on the safe side, I'd give her a calcium pill for a few days. That can't hurt.

She’s now in the nesting box trying to lay an egg, maybe another hen laid that one and she’s just having a hard time laying

I would give her the calcium, since she may be suffering from a shell gland problem or something else. Calcium citrate with d3 is good, 300 mg. Walmart sells it for $8. You can give it for up to 7 days. Hens who lay shell less or soft eggs may act very weak or puny, and not eat. They can become egg bound more easily with a shell-less egg, and then another egg can come quickly behind the first on.
