Hen Almost Dead -- Froze SAD UPDATE!!

I put her in a dog carrier with two towels and made a fire in my wood stove which she is near. I will try the sugar water and karo. THanks guys. Just with literally no feathers left I wonder if she will ever be ok. Will the grow back? She'll have to saty in for how long? How long does it take to grow back feathers?

she deserves a chance, I would want one. Keep her safe and warm, give favorite treats to get something into her when she feels able to eat, she may not be able to swallow well at this moment if she is that frozen. Keep her separated from the others until she fully recovers. I hope she pulls through, good luck.

Was out checking all my other hens and as I scraped the roost, I saw an egg white consistency poo. Maybe an egg broke in her and she was to weak to walk around and then froze? Is that possible? What should I do, I don't even know if it was from her for sure but all my other chickens are acting normal and I got eggs from all but one, which I assume is the weak one. How do I know if there is egg in her still?

That is very possible. A broken egg or a rubber egg passing wrong and you get a listless bird. Put listless bird under a bit of winter stress and she starts to shut down and you find her. Feel her bottom to see if you can feel anything from the outside...then if you really want to check inside, you'll have to lube up and go in. There are two tubes, the one on the top is the reproductive path. If you find bits of shell, hard or rubbery, you'll have to do your best to get it out... else, stew if she cannot pass it. Give her a day or so to recover, often they can and do.

Ok, I went to check her, but I think I'll wait, she seems too fragile right now. Is that a bad decision? She is constantly contracting her vent area, like she's trying to poop, is that a sign of being egg bound or a broken egg in her?

Sorry, to ask so many questions, I am just trying to save the poor thing, she's given me eggs for 1 1/2 years, I feel like I owe her.

Thanks again.

I don't know about the egg but I did have a Guinea that was almost froze a few weeks ago. I brought her in and put her in a warm room. then slowly dripped an eyedropper full of pedilyte and sugar water into her beak. She swallowed it all and started to perk up in a few hours.

You're doing great! She's lucky your taking such good care of her!

could you give her a warm bath, helps to move the egg along, also, not sure if it will help, but when I have given my hens a bath they always have a big watery poop splat after, maybe that would help to move out any eggshell ect..
