So I’ve got a hen (19 actually) a little over a year old. They’ve all been laying great, 13-18 eggs per day roughly, average of 15. Three days ago she got a little broody and wanted to sit and had about 5-6 eggs under her. When I made her move (because I don’t want to hatch), the eggs were very coated with a yellow runny goo (I’m guessing urine). The hay under her was very wet. I cleaned up the hay, got her out and moving around, foraging. Next day, she’s sitting in the same spot, no hay. I left her alone. Next day, same thing. So I made her move enough to see if she was sitting on anything. Nothing. Box didn’t appear to be wet from anything. Ive never had one sick or egg bound, but those were my two thoughts. Anyone else??

Sounds simply broody to me. The yellow goo and wet nest were most likely from a broken egg, not the hen.
