One of my Hens ate some Mountain Laurel and is now starting to show some signs that she has been poisoned. Her face is swollen and she keeps her eyes closed even when trying to eat and drink, she doesnt move much and appears to be in pretty bad shape. What can I do to help it pass through her or give her something to combat the poison. I have been able to get her to eat and drink a good bit.

An epsom salt or molasses flush can be given to pass it through the system. Dose is 1 tsp epsom salts in 1 ounce of water--get them to drink it or syringe feed it. Also 1/2 tsp of castor oil can be used instead. Are you certain this isn't a respiratory infection causing the facial swelling?

I cant be positive but I saw her eating the laurel this morning and everything has happened since then. Never noticed any problems with her before this and her sisters are all healthy.

I just gave her 1tsp/1oz water mix with a syringe, she released alot of clear liquid and green pieces (mountain luarel) shortly after drinking it. should i repeat this later or anything?

THanks!!!

She is still showing no sign of improvement, could it be something else as well? I know she ate alot of laurel though.

Should I give her another water/epson salt flush?
