My kids and I rescued a hen a while back. Shi is extremely sweet and clearly hand raised. I'm guessing she is an older hen as her nails were VERY long. I do not know her breed. She is a smaller hen, not much bigger that my bantam mille de flur. She had lice and mites and I treated her with Gardstar. She started showing signs of stargazing so I started her on duvet vitamins and electrolytes for poultry. I have not seen any signs of infection, no mucus and some watery poo. She is eating but not drinking water on her own. I have been watering her with a syringe.. she still has strength and is able to hold her head up to eat but she now has what look like seizures. She tends to tuck her head under her foot the flop around and bumps into things. I now have her in a cat carrier when I'm not siting with her. This has been about 3 weeks and I thought if it was a vitamin deficiency we should be seeing improvement. And suggestions?

That is awesome of you guys to save her!

Untreated mites/lice can kill chickens, so she is probably weak from them. Be sure to retreat her for them a week to 10 days after your first treatment so you kill any eggs that may have been left on her that hatched.

The vitamins you're giving her should be helping her build back up her system but you might try giving her a whole vitamin E. Just put it in her beak and she should swallow it. Then give her a little bit of scrambled eggs for the selenium she needs to absorb that better. Do this at least once a day, twice if you can, for two weeks and see if that helps her neck and seizures.

Try make a mash out of her feed with water so it's like oatmeal. She might go for that and it would help hydrate her too.
