Recently I’ve had some kind of animal, I assume a feral cat because there’s a bunch around here, terrorizing my chickens. Three days ago my oldest and favorite hen went missing and all I could find of her were six different piles of her feathers and I assumed she had died at the hands of this monster.
However yesterday she miraculously showed up alive and hungry after being on her own for half a week. However she was banged up pretty bad it ripped the skin off of her back and and took a chunk out of her right above her vent and there’s a tiny spot that looks a little green I don’t know if it’s infection or not I’ve treated with anti-septic washed with soap and water and put Neosporin on it but if it’s infection what else can I do? Please she deserves to live after fighting so hard

I'm sorry that I'm not much help as I too am searching through posts trying to find out what to do for our little girl. I'm sorry she was hurt and I hope she keeps fighting and is okay. Best of luck to you guys!

best of luck :fl
Edit added, careful with hydrgen peroxide - it can damage healthy tissue. I would avoid it if possible.

Chickens recover from some very ugly wounds. I think you have done fine so far. Is she eating drinking, walking, pooping ok? A good foto of the wound might be helpful. And you could check for any bad smell from the wounds.:D
Also, the Emergency, Injuries section is maybe a better spot for this question.
@casportpony , @Eggcessive ?

Sorry to hear that and I send her best wishes. Just separate her for a day or two to heal stress free with lots of fresh food and water. Maybe spoil her with some bread or veggies to boost her energy to keep fighting. Also you can purchase a chicken saddle just till her feathers grow back in. Good luck

She’s eating and drinking fine. Walking and I’m on the lookout for poop. No smell I can tell.
