Hen behaviour

Hi I'm new to the site but I'm desperate for help.

For the last two weeks my hen have on and off shown odd behaviour like she doesn't feel well. She's especially shown it since my other hen became broody and sat on the eggs. She is drinking water and occasionally eats, her poop is watery with greenish and white blips, and she's standing in one spot with her wings down and bum puffed up.

She was fine this morning but I read it might be the heat? It has becoming warmer the past few weeks. I'm so worried and I don't know what to do and I don't have the money to get a vet. Are there natural products I could use?

Greetings from Kansas, Lucrest, and . Great to have you aboard but sorry your chicken might be doing poorly. Yes, heat can really knock it out of chickens. How hot are we talking? Does she have outdoor shade and access to a breeze? I'll repost in the link you've given me. There's quite a lot of shade around the house and I've cleaned all the water bowls and gave fresh water. The other difficult thing about her is she doesn't like being touched.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us. Redsoxs has given you the best link to post on. Hopefully they can help you out. In the meantime, you may wish to consider adding vitamin supplements / electrolytes to her drinking water - it can perk them up a bit and help boost their immune system.

Thank you for the replies. The temperature has gotten up to 26°C (I reside in Johannesburg, South Africa) but there is enough shade for her. She isn't panting. She hasn't laid any eggs since my other female became broody. They are both the same breed. And for some weird reason they use the same egg-laying spot. But the hen who isn't looking well lays tiny eggs so I find it odd that she is struggling. Some days she looks perkier like yesterday till late afternoon. But no eggs. She used to lay one everyday and I've looked for other places she might lay but no eggs.
