hen being trated for cocci ovverun with mites

i have a hen who got cocci really bad, ive been treating her and just now saw that she is covered in tiny mites. they must have attacked her as she was ill, and not preening or bathing as i cant find a mite on any of the xozen others i checked from comb to vent. what can i do fast right now without any actual medicine for this? i need to try and get as many off of her now until i can get something at wilco. i dont drive and am 30 miles out alone. anything would help, they are going to kill her.

Do you have any permethrin garden dust or ivermectin pour on? Some people have reportedly used Frontline for dogs or cats, but the dosage would need to be carefully followed. In hens, it is not approved due to being stored in the fat for a long time, and you wouldn’t be able to use the eggs. Neem oil can be used but it is not as effective as permethrin dust. If she has mites, they would be also on the other chickens and in the coop. Bedding must be removed, the coop, nests, and roosts must all be treated, and new bedding added. Here is some info:

What treatment are you doing for cocci, and where are you at in her treatment?

Mites can be all over their feathers and its not life threatening, but it's the clumps of red ones sucking their blood that are the killers.

Examine her face around her eyes and ears for red clumps. Look for bald spots on the head where she has been scratching. Better yet, post a picture of her. Look for red clumps, those need to be scraped off or covered with an oil based substance to try to drown them off. Sometimes the clumps have to be scraped off with a sharp object and it leaves behind bloody spots they are so far embedded in their skin.

But you will need to find permethrin or ivermectin like eggcessive said above for them. Once you have the medicine its easy, but life is tougher for you tobcare for her without the medicine because you have to constantly be inspecting her for signs of infeatations.

i have no way to ppost a pic, thanks for your replies. i got mite stuff today and am cleaning out the coop. im on day four of treatment, she has an appetite and is drinking, but is still lethargic, hunched and her stool has become smelly and seriously watery.
i figured out what kind of mites they are. went in and they had all crawled off her and were sleeping along the top edge of her cage. i removed her, killed all the ones on the cage, washed and disinfected the cage, and put her back in. so i guess they are roost mites.
we are in oregon and it has been raining for weeks. ive been shoveling wood chips constantly trying to keep it from getting muddy bit the wet muck outside i assume is whatled to the outbreak, i had treated the whole flock several weeks ago as there were several showing symptoms, including the one sick now. things improved, but she took ill again. im doing all i can to help her. i hate it when they are ill and i have no vet within 100 miles that will see a chicken.
