One of my hens got bitten by a weasel while trying to protect her chicks. I was there and saw the whole thing. The dirty bugger killed both chicks then finally ran out. She was bitten on her underside. There are 2 puncture wounds that I can see, but I'm sure there must be more. Her whole underside, excluding the breast area, is bruised looking and she was having a hard time walking. I brought her inside, to isolate her from the others so she could rest and have individual care. The bruising is now green (bright green!) and her poop is green. She is walking a little bit better today. Is there anything more I can do to speed up her healing? Or should I just keep doing what I have been? I am hoping the weasel stays out of the coop. This hen chose the dog house to sit on her eggs, while the kids and i were out of town for 2 weeks. hubby couldn't get in there to get the eggs, so he just let her sit. I'm thinking she had more eggs, but the weasel got them.
