My Easter Egger has ,for lack of better term, scalped the tip of her beak. She already has a very slight cross beak, but it has never caused issues with eating, drinking, or daily function. She is actually fairly high in the pecking order. I have some 8 week old chicks in a separate run that she was pecking at yesterday through the hardware cloth. I believe this is where the injury happened. She is not able to eat regular pellets but she is drinking. I gave her so wet crumble and she ate it. She is obviously in pain, has shrieked a few times this morning when attempting to eat. She is also isolating and just not quite right.

I also rehomed our rooster today and she was one of his best girls so I'm sure that is adding stress to the situation.

Is there anything I can do for her aside from making sure she is getting enough soft food and drinking.

Continue to provide wet crumble, and she should be okay. I would guess that in a week or so her beak will no longer be sensitive.

Thank you! She already seemed a bit more herself this evening. She came out of the run for a bit during their free range time. Their resiliency never ceases to amaze me!
