I have a silkie that went broody and hatched out 6 chicks. She stayed with them until approx 5-6 weeks. I let her back in with the rest of the chickens and she started laying eggs right away. now after about 2-3 weeks she is broody again. Is it ok for her to sit again already? I know it is hard the hens to sit for the three weeks since they don't eat as much. I don't want to stress her out by having her sit again but As long as it won't hurt her, I'm ok with her hatching out a few more chicks. Should I let her sit on eggs again or should I break her from being broody? Thanks!

My silkie girl, Princess, loves setting. She does it every few months or so without health problems. She is just now "weaning" her chicks off her care and I hope to get one more clutch of eggs out of her this year (I'm going to try to let her raise a few ducks!).
As long as she isn't thin then I think she should be fine. Breaking up a broody is stressful on them, and she'll probably just try again in a few weeks.

Best of luck!

Princess, having to be brought in because the weather was so cold. She hatched her chicks out in the winter. Silly girl.

Thanks for sharing your experience with your silkie. I think I will go ahead and give her a few eggs to hatch out. Thanks!
