1) What type of bird , age and weight: White Leghorn X EE 7 months old weighs about three pounds
2) What is the behavior, exactly: She cant stand, breathing very hard, legs extended behind her.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma: nothing unusual, no injury that I can see, nothing down her throat, doesn't seem to be egg bound, no roo in pen with her.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation: Found her in this state when I returned from work just now.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. She had provided for her laying mash and clean water. I don't think she has eaten any of it.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc. She is in wire cage. Have not seen her poop since I came home.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Removed her and put her in warm quiet place
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? I have to treat myself
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use. She in on wire, sleeps in nest box with pine shavings.
