Hi all chicken people!
I got few hens the day before yesterday, 30 weeks old I was told, they looked healthy and all, their comb and wattles are bright red and they were all exploring the place, yesterday they all layed an egg and settled pretty good in our place.
this morning one of them was very vocal but she was going around and looked grand nothing weird. When I came back from work I found her, I think it's the same one, sitting in the yard, she couldn't stand at all. I put food beside her and she ate with great appetite. But she couldn't stand, so I brought her in and gave her a bath in Epsom salt. She was "roosting" on my fingers for the whole time (so she can move and use her feet) she drank plenty and ate again ( I gave her fish with extra calcium and cod liver oil) but she can't stand. What could be wrong with her? There is no sign of injury and no sign of mites or lice.
what can I do? I am keeping her in until she is mobile again. Now she is nodding off...
