Sorry if this is in the wrong place... I really had no idea where to put it :/

I've got a hen who I got last winter. She is just a cross breed. She was totally white as a chick, at around 20 weeks I noticed a tiny amount of pigment on her, but hardly anything. She's just gone through a pretty bad moult and now she's got a heap of brown on her!!

Is this a common thing, for chickens to change colour when they moult? Also, based on her colour now, anyone know what breed she might be mixed with? Never seen that kind of colour in a chook before

This is her at around 20 weeks (The pink is antiseptic spray for some wounds after she was attacked by a dog)

The next three photos are her today

It is not all that unusual for a chicken to change color some after a moult, although the degree of change for your hen is pretty dramatic. As far as breed, I'm not sure. You could post in the breed section of the forum. Many people who are knowledgeable about breeds also know a lot about color and genetics.

I think shes gorgeous!!
