I have a 2 year old hen, she is crouching low when she walks. Not consistently but alot of the time and seems to be increasing. I first noticed it 4 days ago so started giving her calcium with vit D supplements daily. She has access to oyster shells and egg shells. She eats 20% protein feed. She doesn't seem unwell/lethargic. I did put coconut oil around her vent, having read it here but I couldn't feel an egg. The fact she runs for treats and hops onto the top roost with ease makes me pretty sure it's not injury related. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I would probably stop the calcium unless she seems to be trying to lay an egg or straining. She may be having some symptoms of internal laying or salpingitis. But human super B complex vitamins 1/2 tablet crushed into some moist feed or egg might help if she is having leg issues. Just keep an eye on her, and make sure that she is not getting picked on. How does her crop feel first thing in the morning before eating or drinking? It should be flat and empty.

Thanks for your reply. Her crop feels normal, I will double check tomorrow morning though. She has been in and out of the nesting box but not constantly and not straining. She's not getting picked on. I'll stop the calcium for now so and see how she goes
