I have a bantam hen that just recently started trying to crow like a rooster. Has anyone else had this happen and what causes this? Thanks for your help!

I believe it's pretty common for a hen to take on a rooster/alpha role with no rooster present. (including crowing)

That makes sense now. I had to move her out of general population due to her getting picked on and now she is trying to crow but still laying eggs. Thanks!!

Oh no, that's no good. Is there enough space for her to get out of range of the others or is she newer or something? I'm only asking because I'm wondering how she'd be able to rejoin her flock. (Or if you don't plan to do that)

She has been in there her whole life so I don't know why they started picking on her. I'm not planning on putting her back in with the flock. She is in a portable pen during the day and in my house at night. Portable pen is not safe enough for night keeping. I'm working on a new enclosure for her and some of her bantam friends.

She is happy. Just kinda shocked me to hear my lil hen crowing. Hopefully she will be even happier when she gets back outside with her friends.

I would be quite shocked to hear a hen crow also haha. I bet she will be very happy to be out with her little buddies. Hope everything works out fine (which I'm sure it will)
