We have been told recently that our gold laced wyandotte is a hen, I just witnessed 'her' make noises almost identical to crowing while she was standing in the yard. Any thoughts? I've attached a couple of photos, she is about 11 weeks old now.

Thanks guys, we know the Plymouth is a roo for sure as we ended up with one of each so it was easy to compare male and female but we weren't so sure about our wyandottes.

The gold laced is a rooster, and if that silver laced is the same age, it's male also.

If someone sold him as a hen maybe they can take him back and trade for a female? Looks as if you have three roosters. Perhaps talk to the person if he was sold as a hen and maybe they will help.

We bought them at a week old knowing they could be either but we took them to another lady who sells chickens and she believes they are hens because of their feathers and the noises they make but I'm not convinced =/ We just want to make sure they're rehomed if they're roosters because we won't be able to keep them all.

You my friend are a proud owner of a good looking GLW too.

It is a very pretty bird so I'll be sad to see 'him' go if it does turn out to be a roo but we've already decided to keep the Plymouth because then we have a pair of the same breed.
