Hey not sure if I'm in the right forum as most questions seem to be on incubation, but our hen has been sitting on eggs 3 weeks today, I checked on them while she was off eating and one had a large hole around the butt end.. the chick is fully developed, yolk almost entirely absorbed (bit sticky) and seems to be breathing, but she hasn't pipped at all, what should I do with it and what are survival chances??
at the moment she's on a hot water bottle to keep warm, and I've put some damp tissue paper over the hole so the membranes don't dry out too much..
I have an r-com incubator without the plug/adaptor would it work to put that on an aga??
sorry for all the questions, any help much appreciated! xxx

Survival chances are slim to none. Everyone has different experiences and choices they are comfortable with. I would place the chick in a working incubator where temperatures can be monitored. I would check on the chick over the next few hours and if breathing becomes labored, I would euthanize.
