Had a hen very out of it just laying in the yard this morning. I walk up to her and she doesnt move. I pick her take her to water doesnt drink. I sit her down and she walks slowly behind a bush. I come back out an hour later and she is dead in the middle of the yards. Didnt notice anything before today. Thoughts on what happend? The rest of the flock looks fine

It could have been a lot of things such as being egg bound, a blocked gizzard, heart problem, coccidosis, or during hot months, dehydration or heatstroke. Your state vet can do a necropsy on a refrigerated body and can help find a cause. I have found a couple of hens like this, and never knew the reason why. Many people will pick up their birds once a week, and feel of their breast bone for any weight loss, feel the crop for impacted crop (and in the morning when it should be empty,) inspect them for lice and mites, look at the vent, and check their eyes and noses just to check for general health. I forget to do this very often, but it helps to catch a problem early. Sorry for your loss.
