I have an Easter Egger that’s 2-3 years old. I believe she has bad genetics as I got about a handful of eggs from her when she was almost a year old and then quit laying all together. I kept her since she was part of my original flock.

I have a rooster that mates with her (against her will, she usually runs and tries to get away). Yesterday I noticed that she was walking funny, and her left wing doesn’t look like it’s sitting in the correct spot. Today I noticed her drinking and then drooling the water back out of her beak, and she has white liquid poops.

I’m just wondering if she is sick and could infect my other chickens or if she’s just old/bad genetics.

I posted some photos to help. I tried to upload a video of her walking but it won’t work.

Oh, looks like she has lots of feces hanging back there, maybe wash it off and take a good look. You don't want flies back there, with it being summer and warmer you would not want her to get flystrike.

I will try and catch her. She runs when I try and get her to check her out. I wanted to clean her up

Definitely separate her if you can and give all of them oregano tea to boost their immune system. The drooling sounds strange. Could she have been attacked?

Would the orengano tea just be oregano in their water?

I was wondering if the rooster hurt her trying to mate with her. He’s been pretty rough lately. There have been hawks around but I have some small chickens that are about 2 months old running around and I would think they would be more of a target of attack. The drooling has me puzzled.

If you can't catch her during the day, wait until tonight while she is roosting-easy to get a hen then.

Wash her up, look at the vent for any redness, feel under the vent and between the legs for any bloat/swelling, look through her feathers for any lice/mites and check her crop.

I make the tea with boiling water. Let it steep for at least until it cools (an hour and a half - 2 hours). You can let it steep all day or overnight. Then strain the tea over the waterer adding it to the waterer with clear cool water to fill it up.

Is she better today?

I caught her and ended up having to cull her today. She was injured by something for sure. Left wing was probably broken, and had several deep wounds near her vent that were crawling with maggots. I tried to clean her up but the wounds were already starting to fester. I don’t know how I didn’t see the wounds in the first place which makes me feel horrible. After looking at her and trying to clean her up I decided it was best to end her suffering. I’m not sure what got to her but something must have. :hit

That's sad, sorry
